Long wait to see Pope

Yahoo! News - Mourners Brave Cold Night, Long Wait to See Pope

I don't see the reason why people are doing this. There are many who are flying from US to spend hours in travel, then hours in the line to get in St. Peter's and then 5 seconds with the Pope's remains. Sure, I'll go and pay respects to my relatives in same situation but, I can't imagine doing this for anyone else. Maybe, I am missing something huge, please enlighten me.

no you can not be enlightened anymore becoz the people who r going there they have already been enlightened by the religion and the pope.. its i guess the similar effect a saibaba can have in india.. i mean its the same way for all the famous people.. look what happned when regan, diana, indira gandhi died.. throngs of people were there just to see the dead body.. it is so not right becoz paying respect is such a lovely thing as peole to whom you are paying respect to are already dead so they wouldnt know whether you are paying respect in person or in spirit.. i think for close people i would say makes a difference becoz you want to it for urself and not the dead one.. i think these people feel closer to the pope probably than there relatives.. so i dont think there is any plausible justification we can understand becoz we just dont have that belief structure to understand that..

If I was working and if my employer gave me a special leave to visit the pope, I would do it and have a look at rome rather than standing in line :)
Seema logical isn't it?
