Page 3
Finally, the search for a likeable hindi movie is over. It took more than one year since "Ab tak Chhappan", but, "Page 3" was quite good. The movie spans a few months in the life of an upcoming journalist. Madhavi Sharma, starts off as a reporter for page 3 stuff (covering parties and events of rich & famous) of the newspaper. Then, moves over to cover the crime beat and stumbles onto a story that is too big for her to deal with. Very good story and screenplay. It is well directed and holds interest till the end. The heroine, Konkana Sensharma was perfect as the reporter. All the actors have performed very well.
V didn't like the end as all the bad guys went scot-free. I liked it because on top of presenting a good story very well, it didn't have all those annoying things that are part of almost every hindi movie. No melodramatic screaming, no lovers running around trees, no songs, no overacting and most of all, no comedians like Johny Lever or Kader Khan.
I highly recommend it. I think I am going to watch all Madhur Bhandarkar movies in the future.
Posted by Parag at August 3, 2005 10:54 AM | TrackBackPage 3 is awesome, Konkona Sen is a good actress...Have you seen Mr& Mrs.Iyer? All of Bhandarkars films are good, Chandini bar, Munna bhai, Page 3. YOu got to see Sarkar too...without songs, cold blooded action without bloodshed!!
Posted by: deven at August 3, 2005 11:06 AMPage 3 is very good. See D (yes just the letter) and Sarkar.
Posted by: Ashish Raje at August 3, 2005 11:55 AMdeven munnabhai is not by madhur bhandarkar.. its by someone else for sure.. i didnt like D though.. i mean i just thought that the "gang" related films coming out of the ramu factory are almost the same.. satya, company, ab tak chappan, D.. the look the feel of the movies is the same.. i mean i will watch D over devdas or such crap or even sarkar for that matter.. but i dont think it was that good.. madhur bhandarkar's other movie which was ok was satta.. i just loved the way atul kulkarni underplayed his character.. he was like the next nana patekar.. he was good in chandani bar too.. about sarkar i havent seen it yet but dont know if i can just becoz of bacchan jr.. i think he is overrated and i cant stand him..
Posted by: sujit at August 3, 2005 01:14 PMJr is definately overrated but is very tolerable in Sarkar compared to his other stupidity. Extremely under played. I saw Srakar for Mr. Bachchan Sr. After a long time I got to see one of his better movies. But nothing to beat his old movies.
Posted by: Ashish Raje at August 3, 2005 01:25 PMBchachan Jr is tolerable in Sarkar. overall its s tight movie..
Posted by: deven at August 3, 2005 02:15 PMThanks for the suggestions, guys! I would definitely like to watch D and Sarkar. But, given that these are gang movies, I'll have to watch them by myself. The Boss doesn't like this stuff.

I agree with you, Page 3 was a good relief after a long time. The last good movies I saw were Yuwa and Dev, sometime last year.
Madhur's other movies are not so impressive. Satta is a bad movie. Chandani Bar is ok, but it's a very dark movie. It's not a movie that will cheer you up.
Page 3 one of the better movies made recently. Sarkar is good as well. Not sure about Jr, but Sr is pretty rocking. In fact, I liked KK's(yes, the singer!) performance as well.
I didn't enjoy even a bit of "D"...its pathetic...Satya, Company & Ab Tak Chhapan were entertaining..but not "D"!
I agree with Deven about Mr & Mrs Iyer....its a nice flick....Rahul Bose & Konkana Sen...worth spending 2 hours on....I think it's available on Netflix/Blockbuster.
