Meaning of Adit
I didn't think 'Adit' was an uncommon name, but have received several queries about its meaning.
- Adit: pronounced as ädit, and means
- The first
- The Sun
The second meaning is the same as the longer version, Aditya. According to my mother, Adit is the prakrit version of Aditya which is a sanskrit word. We liked the shorter version better.

here in the US - the 'tya' in aditya is generally pronounced as 'cha' or 'chya' - life will be easier for your kid, he will be spared the effort of having to clarify the pronunciation, or having to endure it from being brutally massacred :) (exaggerating it a little bit ofcourse!)
