IRAQ FOR SALE: The War Profiteers
Seems like an interesting documentary. Heard a brief interview of Robert Greewald on Bill Maher’s Real Time. One little snippet that got stuck in my brain…
Contractors charged $45 for a six-pack of Coke cans.
At a neighbourhood grocery store, you can get the six-pack for $1.99. Does it really cost 24 times as much to transport those Coke cans to Iraq?

Haha, the same line struck me as well.
Anyway, I think it will be a pretty interesting film, but will most likely suffer from “alzheimers” – which people will watch, discuss and forget.
One thing is for sure – next time around if the US goes into a war, there will be more buyers for these companies which provided “outsourcing” services to the US Military – Haliburton (HAL rose from $10 in 2003 to $42 in 2006), Titan (LLL rose from $36 in 2003 to $88 in 2006), CACI (which doubled from $30 in 2003 to $60 in 2006) and the privately owned BlackwaterUSA which will be chased by PEs!
$300,000 invested in all the three public companies would have turned into a whopping $850,000 and a few thousand extra grands in dividends! Not bad huh?
This seems just as bad as betting on the hurricane season, or placing bets on boxing matches!
Aditya: Good to see you visiting my blog. Thanks for such a detailed comment. I wanted to do some research about companies profiting from the war, but didn’t get time.
