My favorite radio show, This American Life, comes to TV (Showtime) on March 22. Here are a couple of trailers for the show.

Ice ice baby
After a winter storm that dumped freezing rain instead of snow, everything was encased in a layer of ice. It was a lovely sight to see Sun rising from behind the trees that were completely covered in ice. The tree limbs shimmered and sparkled as if they were made of cut-glass.

Vagina?!?! What is that, aunty?
Eve Ensler’s very famous book, “The Vagina Monologues” and its dramatized version have been around for quite a few years. The marquee advertising the play in Atlantic Beach, Fla. caused a minor stir, recently. A 25 year old woman was driving by the comedy club/theater with her 9 year old niece who read out the marquee and asked what vagina is. The woman got very upset that she was asked the question and promptly complained to Better Business Bureau. The comedy club changed the marquee to “The Hoohaa Monologues” as a joke. Hoohaa being a more colloquial word so everyone would understand what it is.
If a 9 year old girl doesn’t know what a vagina is, there are some real problems with this family. Also, this book is about how women don’t have very high regard for their genitals and how they avoid discussing this topic. This floridian lady just endorsed the main point of the book.

Food… food… food
It was a busy and fun weekend. My brother and sister-in-law came to visit Ashwini and Adit. They also talked with us because we were around.
As usual, all we did was cooked, ate and drank. The theme this time was Indo-chinese (thanks to Sanjeev Kapoor’s books) and street food.
- Friday dinner: Chili Paneer and vegetable fried rice
- Saturday brunch: Pancakes (only exception to theme)
- Saturday dinner: Kanda-bhaji, Batata-vada, vada-paav
- Sunday lunch: Vegetable Manchao soup
- Sunday dinner: Bhel-puri and Dahi-vada
Don’t want to list all the wines that were had. (Maybe, I don’t remember).
