I get to learn new things almost everyday from kids. Ashwini was totally surprised and shocked to learn that I didn’t know what an acrostic poem was. She then went on to educate me by writing two poems as examples. Here they are…

It was 8 years ago, when we went on our grand trip of the Grand Canyon. Hike down to the Colorado river from South rim to get on the rafts. Then, 8 days of white water rafting down the river. We traveled more than 150 miles on the river camping on the river bank every night. It was one of the most memorable trips. Waiting for the kids to grow up, so we can do this again with them. Here are some photos to tell the story.

Last week, we attended my brother-in-law’s wedding. It was a good time to take out all the nice clothes. Here is us at the reception wearing the same clothes we wore at our wedding reception about 14 and half years ago.

I don’t think we look much different compared to 14.5 years ago…

Donated blood at American Red Cross blood drive at work. Did my good deed of the day AND lost one pound of weight. I just love the instant satisfaction of good karma one gets from blood donation.
The blood-sucking nurse was maha khadoos and the lady at the snack table was super friendly. The whole thing was so bipolar, that it was annoying.
Vital signs looked good:
Pulse: 64
Blood pressure: 120/80
Hemoglobin: 14.2

Got my eyes checked with the eye doctor. It was just a periodic check-up and I passed with flying colors. There are no horrible physical conditions: no glaucoma, no retinal detachment, no swelling of blood vessels and no macular degeneration. In terms of vision, it is 20/20. This doctor’s office had a machine that measured refractive index of the lens inside the eye. So, it doesn’t depend on your ability to read the chart from distance to figure out if a corrective lens is needed. I have very slight near-sightedness and it will compensate for loss of age-related focusing ability. That means it’ll delay the need for reading glasses by a few years.
I was very happy with this checkup knowing my eyes are in good health. On the other hand, I was a little sad that I won’t be wearing any eye-glasses anytime soon. That dashes my hopes of adding some ‘dignified look’ to my personality.
